Most therapists will tell you one of the few things people commonly lie about in therapy is their financial situation.  This fact speaks volumes about the  symbolic weight attached to money and income.  Are you one of those people?  If so, you might want to ask yourself some of the following questions:

1. What judgments are you assuming that others will make about you if they knew the truth about your financial situation?

2. What is it you think your income says about you as a person?

3. If you had to argue these beliefs in court, what evidence would you have that they are accurate?

4.  If a friend was in your positions, whould you judge them this way?

5.  Many of the most infulencial people in history came from impoverished backgrounds.  Knowing this, is it truley reasonable to assess a persons worth based on their wealth?
